Quinta Brunson says THE CAT IN THE HAT doesn't soften heavy themes for kids. She read the script early and spotted that specific wave of storytelling handling complex topics. Childhood cartoons often dealt with mature stuff she wasn't ready to explore yet. But good stories are for everyone, letting different audiences interpret things differently. She points to The Incredibles where she focused on superpowers while her parents saw a family on the brink of divorce & separation. "I think back to The Incredibles, that movie was about a family on the brink of divorce & separation... I'm sure my parents were watching that like, 'Jesus, this is some deep stuff.'" That beauty of good story is understanding it across ages.
