@jolyonThe Saudi Turkey Pakistan pact, signed in Mecca, includes an “attack on one is attack on all” clause, and it’s the latest signal that major regional powers are stepping away from the American security umbrella, especially with the Iran conflict simmering. It mirrors the European shift: U.S. pressure on NATO spending and threats of troop cuts pushed Europeans to hike their own defense budgets and chase strategic autonomy. The pattern keeps repeating, from the Gulf to Asia, as countries read Washington’s moves as unpredictable and build overlapping alliances for self-reliance. The post WWII reliance model is cracking, and what’s emerging isn’t a tidy multipolar world but a fractured one, with less coordination and more instability. #SaudiArabia #Turkey
