It embarrassed him to be part of a brand where guys were treating him like a celebrity rather than a competitor. Before he ever stepped into the ring, Waller admits he was a huge fan who loved how real Punk was. Punk used to speak from the heart, didn't care about opinions, and wanted to piss people off by telling them exactly what he thought. If you had an issue with him back then, you did something about it instead of just standing there. Waller believes the only way to show real respect is to go straight at someone and voice your true thoughts. That is exactly what he did when Punk came to NXT. He thinks Punk appreciated that confrontation because deep down he secretly respects it too. It mirrors how Punk treated everyone else years ago by going up to guys and saying what he really thought without hesitation. Waller knows Punk loves hearing all the kids tell him how good he is, but that doesn't mean he respects the adulation.
