@urdjakademiksJoseph Kabila is telling anyone who'll listen that the earthquake has done real damage to Felix Tshisekedi's political position, and he's not framing it as a small thing. What follows that claim is a whole list. Political figures close to the regime, based in Europe and the United States, are said to be getting ready to link up with Kabila in Goma. His cabinet, the argument goes, will end up empty. His army is falling apart. And in Kinshasa, Tshisekedi's security services are reportedly lining up waves of criminal arrests aimed at Kabilists, at Swahili-speakers, at officers they consider formidable or unpredictable. Meanwhile Albert Mukulubundu Muke, who heads the FDA and is the son of a Lumumbist, has thrown in with Joseph Kabila to fight a regime he calls dictatorial. Félix Mukulubundu was one of the people who started the 1963 insurrection in Kwilu-Kwango, alongside Pierre Mulele and Mzee Laurent Désiré Kabila. The line being pushed is « Il ne cherche pas la solution mais la soumission ».
