A 1993 patent filed by two Egyptian engineers, Dr. Hatem Zaghloul and Dr. Michel Fattouch, laid the groundwork for modern Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G networks. Their invention, Wide-band Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (WOFDM), solved key data transmission bottlenecks and dramatically boosted wireless speeds.
