Türkiye's World Cup history is a tale of near-misses and withdrawals. They didn't participate in 1930, 1934, or 1938. In 1950, they qualified but withdrew. Their best finish came in 1954, placing 9th. They withdrew again in 1958, and then failed to qualify for every tournament from 1962 through 1982. A full timeline is available here: #Turkey #Football
