A rundown of America's major airlines still operating, ranked by when they started. Delta Air Lines leads the way, founded in 1925 in Macon, Georgia. American Airlines and United Airlines both kicked off in 1926, in Chicago and Boise respectively. Hawaiian Airlines launched in 1929 from Honolulu, Alaska Airlines in 1932 from Anchorage, and Southwest Airlines in 1967 out of Dallas. FedEx Express started in 1971 in Little Rock, Sun Country Airlines in 1982 in Minneapolis, and UPS Airlines in 1988 in Louisville. Frontier Airlines began in 1994 in Denver, Allegiant Air in 1997 in Las Vegas, and JetBlue Airways rounds things out, founded in 1998 in New York City.
