    General Sherman Tree largest single-stem

Deep inside Sequoia National Forest, the General Sherman Tree stands as a massive giant sequoia. It holds the record for the largest living single-stem tree on Earth when measured by volume. This distinction is specific because it is not the tallest or widest tree in the world. The trunk rises about 275 feet (83 meters) into the air. At its base, the diameter stretches over 36 feet (11 meters). These proportions create a total volume of more than 52,000 cubic feet. Scientists estimate the age to be around 2,000 to 2,500 years old. That means it was already standing long before many ancient civilizations rose and fell. Despite this great age, the tree is still alive. It continues to grow slowly each year. Protected within Sequoia National Park, the site attracts thousands of visitors annually. People come to witness the scale and natural beauty firsthand. The General Sherman Tree serves as a powerful reminder of nature’s strength. It also shows the endurance and incredible scale of life on Earth. 🌲
