US military warns Iran war overstretching forces

The Navy is barely holding up. Less than a quarter of its destroyers can actually deploy right now, and one Pacific carrier got yanked over to the Middle East, with some crews stuck out there months longer than planned. Commanders are starting to push back on keeping the whole force stretched this thin, saying it's wrecking training and leaving them exposed if something else pops off. They've burned through Patriot and THAAD interceptors, Tomahawks, and about a quarter of the Reaper drone fleet is gone. One person close to the assessment put it bluntly: "too much for too long." That's the vibe six months into this thing, with 50,000+ troops still on alert and gear pulled from Europe, Asia, and Latin America just to keep the Middle East operation going. Hegseth's getting warned by senior military officials that this pace isn't sustainable. Washington Post's Daniyal has the full breakdown.
