    The top twenty African nations by land area have been compiled by Data of Statistics, presenting a clear hierarchy from the largest down to the twentieth spot. Algeria leads with 2,381,741 km², followed closely by DR Congo at 2,344,858 km². Sudan claims third place with 1,857,392 km², while Libya sits fourth with 1,760,540 km². Chad occupies the fifth position with 1,284,846 km², and Niger rounds out the sixth spot with 1,268,642 km². Angola ranks seventh at 1,246,700 km², and Mali is eighth with 1,240,192 km². South Africa takes ninth place with 1,221,037 km², and Ethiopia holds tenth with 1,104,300 km². Mauritania comes in eleventh with 1,030,700 km², while Egypt is twelfth with 1,001,450 km². Tanzania holds thirteenth place with 947,300 km², and Nigeria is fourteenth with 923,769 km². Namibia ranks fifteenth with 824,292 km², and Mozambique is sixteenth with 801,590 km².
