The math on south american football rights is cooked. the combined package for Copa do Brasil and Supercopa just blew past the total value of every single country in South America put together. we are talking about a new agreement sitting at R$ 1 billion per season while everyone else is scrambling. argentina sits at R$ 859 million but tbh there is no separate sale because TyC organizes the tournament themselves so the money never hits the open market. uruguay is barely scraping by with negotiations for local knockout TV rights amounting to just R$ 11.3 million annually which feels like nothing. chile has a solid national football package covering two divisions cups and a supercup valued at R$ 462 million per season but that still pales next to brazil. colombia brings the first two divisions the knockout stage and the women's league totaling R$ 308 million annually yet it is nowhere near the billion mark. even when paraguay sold their comprehensive national football package for R$ 125 million per year it was a drop in the ocean compared to what we have here. the disparity between the Brazilian package and other South American markets is insane. via
