It is a pretty interesting criticism coming from Bruce Straley, the former director who helped shape the modern AAA formula. He states that The Last of Us and Uncharted 4 legacy games have evolved into something boring despite the visual spectacle. While he acknowledges that current blockbusters look incredible, the actual gameplay simply isn't giving him the same excitement anymore. He pointed to God of War: Laufey as a prime example where every pixel is mindblowing yet he feels not excited by what he sees you doing in the game.
