    Roberto Italy shooting intruder case

A legal gun, a dark house, and thirteen rounds fired at people breaking in. That is the shape of Roberto's night, and it has turned an Italian property owner into a suspect rather than a victim. One of the intruders died. He was Jovalin Lazri, 36, Albanian, and the record shows earlier convictions for property crimes. He was also carrying roughly 2,000 euros in cash when it ended. Now the case against Roberto runs toward intentional homicide, with attempted murder counts attached for the others who came onto the property. Whatever you think of the shooting, the aftermath is the part that should worry anyone who owns a door and a gun. Prison is on the table. So is a large payout to the family of the man who broke in. His life can be wrecked permanently over a night he did not choose. Europe has no 'Stand Your Ground' law. In America that doctrine lets you shoot someone who intrudes on your property. Here, defending your own home is the thing that gets you charged.
