The United States government has placed northern Colombia under a strict DO NOT TRAVEL advisory after identifying severe threats from illegal armed groups like the ELN. Officials warn that Norte de Santander faces a high risk of attacks using drones and rifles specifically targeting police and military installations. This warning extends to any location within 10 kilometers of the border shared by Colombia and Venezuela, where travelers are told to stay away completely.
