Fred on Jhon Durán crazy locker room stories

The question of what Jhon Durán's career could have looked like with a different mindset is the one Fred leaves hanging. Fred, who once played alongside the Colombian, was asked to name the craziest guy he'd ever dressed next to in a locker room. Durán got the nod. And the stories behind that pick are something else. Fred says Durán just did not care about putting in work. When Fred would push him to come train, to run, the reply was always some version of: I'm already rich, I don't need to run. Then he'd head to the infirmary instead. That wealth wasn't just talk either. Durán told Fred his money had already taken care of himself, his family, and three more generations down the line. So when the move to Zenit came, Fred figured the incentive might shift. He told Durán he was about to earn much more. Durán's answer? The more, the better. The more, the better. Fred admits it made him nervous. Still, he describes Durán as a genuinely fun guy and a great person, just someone who doesn't care about anything. Fred also mentions that Durán is expecting a son, and he's hoping that becomes the moment things settle down and maturity kicks in. All of this sits against the backdrop of Durán having long been seen as one of Colombia's brightest football talents. Which brings it all back to that original question: what would that career have looked like with a different mentality?
