Dolly Parton recalls her first trip to New York in the late 60s. She had just started making country music and was beginning to find success, but she and her girlfriend Judy arrived with no money. Dolly admits she looked cheaper then than she does now. The pair checked into a hotel, but the staff assumed they were hookers. Dolly and Judy went out to look around the city. When they returned to their room, they found their luggage sitting in the hall. The hotel staff had locked them out because they believed the women were turning tricks inside. With no reservations back home, they asked if they could leave their belongings in the lobby. They did not know where else to go. Eventually, they wound up on 47 street.
