The genius thing that I want to talk about of this episode is framing this through the lens of a job interview. Right? This doesn't happen. Like, people don't get interviewed for the lantern role. But as a black man and as a black person being in an interview, that's like one of our worst nightmares. Being in a position where you're being judged by a white person and being like, so what makes you good for the job? So there's a dance that they're doing the entire episode where John is trying to show that I am exactly who I said that I am, but I'm also the man for the job. And I feel like so many black people have to do that. Like we have to do that, which is like, I am exactly all of the things that you want me to be, but I also know that you probably don't want all of me because I'm black. So like, I'm kind of doing a little dance to see which parts of me it is that you want. She tries to even keep some things close to the chest. That's right. Just in case that sheds a bad light on things. I'm gonna hold that here. Or just in case you might think that I'm not somebody who can follow instructions, I'm not going to let you know how I really felt about that. Yeah.
