Taylor Swift and Zac Efron Pumped Up Kicks parody
بواسطة Felix P: Taylor Swift
There's a reason this clip keeps getting resurfaced, and it has very little to do with the music. Taylor Swift and Zac Efron come out for a talk show appearance carrying guitars, and Efron's first move is to joke that he only just picked up the instrument. Swift plays along by saying she gave him a few chords to work with, and then they launch into "Pumped Up Kicks." It's rough from the jump, chords get fumbled, lyrics get tangled, and both of them are cracking up through the mess. At some point Swift asks if they can swap out the words, and that's when the whole bit transforms. Instead of the original lyrics, they start singing about the experience of being a guest on the show. Swift takes aim at the usual interview questions about her dating life and even brings up a moment where she thought a hidden camera was planted in the bathroom, which startled her so much she nearly took a spill. The tone never turns sour, though. They're not complaining, they're just playing with the situation. And that's probably the smartest part of it. Efron isn't trying to pass as a seasoned guitarist, and Swift isn't reaching for a flawless vocal moment. When they lose a chord or hit a pause, they laugh it off and keep moving, like they're building the whole thing in real time. It feels less like a rehearsed segment and more like two people figuring it out on the spot. But there's a sharper layer underneath the humor. Talk shows have a way of putting guests in spots where they're expected to smile, roll with the jokes, and answer whatever gets thrown at them. Most of the time that's just part of the deal, but occasionally the bit crosses into uncomfortable territory. Swift's response here is to sidestep any direct confrontation and just sing about it instead. That's exactly what makes it worth watching again. It's not about the guitar work or some polished musical moment. It's that for a few minutes, these two stopped playing the roles the show set up for them. They were still joking, but they were setting the terms themselves.

And you have something else, I'm told. I have no idea what they're talking about. Oh, Zach wanted to show you how he learned how to play guitar. I taught him how to play guitar. I got my first guitar lesson from Taylor. He's really good at it for like one lesson. It's really great. One lesson? He had like one lesson, and he's good at it. And we learned, I taught him how to play Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People. Really? Yes. Yeah. All right. Are you going to play guitar? Yeah, we can play a little bit for you. There's two guitars coming out. All right, brilliant. Do you have two picks? Yeah, there's a pick right here. There's a pick right here. Oh, there they are. So yeah, you can use my guitar. I'll use your cool name. You have your own picks, Taylor. Sweet. I know. That's all I carry around. Yeah, the Taylor Swift picks. Got a guitar. Yeah, that is my face on it, which is a little awkward. But yeah, show her the chords that you know. OK, let's see. What's the first one again? E minor, air, and air. All right, here we go. Mm-mm. That sounds so good. Right? G. G. Only a girlfriend would react that quickly like that. Then to D, D, D. D, D, D. There. Then A major. There it is. All right. So you go like. Yeah. Yeah, that sounds great. Like that. All the other kids with punta kicks Better run, better run Out on my gun All the other kids with punta kicks Better run, better run Faster than my bullet Oh, you need to change up the lyrics though? If you want to like See what I can come up with Am I ready Yeah I couldn't think this was about being weird. Because this song is all about Ellen. It's with you. Every single time I come on this show, it's really weird, really weird. All because of Ellen. Every single time I come on this show, it's really weird, really weird. Always into dancing. I've been on this show eight times now, And I still remember Ellen hiding in the bathroom With a hidden camera and she scared me so bad and I fell and I could have died She always asks me who I'm dating every time I'm on the show and I don't even know why But it gets five million hits on YouTube Cause every single time I come on this show, it's really weird, really weird. All because of Ellen. Every single time I come on this show, it's really weird, really weird. Always in the dancing. Wow, that was amazing. We'll be right back. Thank you.
