Marco Rubio Russia plague death
بواسطة Not A Charm: Marco Rubio
Sec. Marco Rubio is pushing Moscow to actually share details after a 28-year-old worker at a Russian anti-plague institute died from unexplained pneumonia, which sparked quarantines and got the whole world worried. The U.S. State Department says they have quite limited info right now so they can't tell if this is minor or if it's bigger than anyone thinks. Rubio told the Trump administration they need to be more forthcoming starting immediately because decisions on the threat level depend on data that isn't there yet. Even the World Health Organization has urged experts to focus on the case but hasn't said anything about threats to Americans.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio overseas today had a very blunt message for Russian officials about this health incident. It is the same message he delivered yesterday, and it is. They need to be more forthcoming with the Trump administration, starting immediately about exactly what happened with patient zero. Take a listen. The more we can learn about what happened, then the better all of us can be in a position of responding. And maybe, you know, there's nothing there. Maybe it's bigger than we thought. We don't know. WE'LL HAVE TO MAKE THOSE DECISIONS ON THE BASIS OF THE INFORMATION THAT WE'RE LEARNING AND ARE BEING PROVIDED. AND SO FAR THAT'S STILL QUITE LIMITED. STILL QUITE LIMITED, THE OPERATIVE WORD THERE. SO THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION HAS URGED EXPERTS TO FOCUS ON THIS CASE. THEY ARE NOT PROVIDING ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE THREAT THIS POSES TO AMERICANS.
