Dai Dai

Shakira returned to the FIFA World Cup stage in 2026 with Dai Dai, a collaboration with Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy that became the official anthem for the tournament hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Fifteen years after her iconic Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) soundtracked the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Shakira once again brought her signature energy to global football. The track blends pop, reggaeton, and Afrobeats, with lyrics switching between English, Spanish, Italian, French, and Japanese, a deliberate nod to the tournament's international audience. The title itself comes from Italian, meaning "come on, come on," a call to players and fans alike.

Released on May 15, 2026 through Ace Entertainment and Sony Music Latin, Dai Dai was written by Shakira, Burna Boy, Ed Sheeran, Jon Bellion, Alexander "A.C." Castillo Vasquez, and Benny Adam. Shakira also co-produced the track alongside A.C. and Basshorizon2001. The song name-checks football legends Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Mohamed Salah, weaving their names into a celebration of the sport's history. Beyond the stadium, the track also serves as the official anthem for the Global Citizen Fund for Education, aiming to support children's access to quality education and sports worldwide.

The music video, directed by Hannah Lux Davis and filmed in Miami, dropped on May 23, 2026, eight days after the song. It opens with cameos from Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland, and features an animated sequence of Shakira standing atop Mexico City's Angel of Independence monument. The video crossed 100 million views in just two weeks, and has since surpassed 1 billion cumulative views on YouTube as of October 5, 2026. Commercially, Dai Dai hit No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, the first World Cup anthem to top that ranking since its inception, and peaked at No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart. [تعديل]
